Home Child Care Spending-to-Income Ratio

State: Texas
Measurement Period: 2024
This indicator shows the ratio between the average spending among households that spent on home child care and the median household income in the selected location. This includes spending on babysitting, nanny, and other at-home child care services.

Why is this important?

Quality child care contributes to child health and development. Access to affordable and high-quality child care is essential for parents or guardians to be able to provide for basic needs such as housing, food, and health care. Affordable child care also allows parents or guardians to pursue further education or participate in the workforce, which can improve opportunities and benefits for the household (County Health Rankings).
